Sigh...i have been advised countless times over the 19 years and 44 days of my existance to consult a shrink urgently but honestly speaking i just need a place to rave and rant ans since right now my christmas hols are going on(2 whole months baby..beat that !) so.... here i am !!

Well am a 19 year old (duh! already mentioned), dogra (people of jammu origin you nitwit), male living in chennai (madras to the dumbasses in northern cities) and studying in an engineering college just on outskirts of chennai...Have been here for just over 8 years and have acquired a fondness for tamilians and tamil nadu, infact i introduce myself to my relatives as a chennaite these days...

When i first shifted here it was BLOODY hard to fit in.... Both my parents are from jammu so the inherited fair skin doesnt wasn't great help.... Apart from the accent (according to my friends) my lack of tamil was a serious hindrance. And as anybody will tell learning tamil for a north indian or hindi for a south indian(though to give the chaps credit they learn pretty fast) is like asking a 10 year old to learn einsteins relativity theory ! After 8 years have a started to understand tamil.

Anyways the first challenge after coming here was dispensng the myths. According to kids in my class at my new school all north indians were
a]. bloody fair
B]. Had pink lips (was made fun until i got a tan and my lips finally turned a normal red)
c]. Had rajma daily
and since i was from J&K had the extra one that jammu and kashmir are one, jammu has snow and terrorists(along with the occassonal snide joke about being a terrorist !)... People jammu is a CITY... and we NEVER get snow..... though yes the temperaature in winter are so low that your piss freezes inside your blader !.

Apart from that a few idiots here started picking on me. Physical fights included. Being a skinny ,pacifist, late bloomer didnt help hence got spectacularly beaten many a times. That combined with no friends made me hate chennai(the pathetic state of the roads only strenghtened the feeling !)

But then later on... oh damn! mums calling for lunch ... Later dudes and dudettes ...peace out !

I can understand the 'alien' feeling. And the terrorist tag refuses to go away, along with the stereotypes North Indians have for South Indians and vice versa.

I am sure you must have 'blended' in by now.
