The hostel saga- Part deux

Annnnnnnd our exams have finally started. Those of you out there in engineering would know what that means- sleepless nights ,hasty meals and all the usual schwazoo.

Yesterday was DBMS (No i am not gonna expand the acronym. I mean DBMS sounds MUCH cooler than its expansion. Not that any of you non computer people would know. And no i am NOT being condescending !) and after a flurry of studying , 3 torturous hours later we were all relieved at being one day closer to the glorious holidays. Since i had skipped breakfast that morning i decided to treat myself to some junk food at the canteen.

2 burgers, 1 milkshake and a packet of biscuits later i dragged my tired ass back to hostel and the moment my head touched the pillow i was promptly was carried off in Morpheus's loving arms.I woke up 3 hours later still feeling surprisingly tired and queasy. I tried standing which lead to a round of nausea. I put it down to tiredness. But the more i tried to walk the more it became clearer that even small steps were taking a herculean effort.

At this point a small doubt entered my mind regarding the burgers i had eaten,so joyfully, earlier.

10 minutes later i realised my hunch was completely right and i ran to the toilets and there i er...threw up,blew chunks, barfed, vomited, regurgitated.

Take your pick.

And while i was in midst of the above mentioned act there was a power cut in the hostel block. Now when you are in a place as hot as chennai , a power cut even at 6 in the evening will leave you sweating. So i was not surprised when exactly .00234 seconds later the voices of the 1000 odd other guys in the building rose as one to shout out gaalis directed at the hostel warden, the electricity board, the prime minister (basically anyone who came to their mind) regarding their possible origins and the promiscuity of the various members of their families.

By then i was done heaving and was washing my face all the while feeling light headed and couldn't help laughing at this unusual display of unity among people who normally wouldn't hesitate to beat the crap out of you for borrowing their slippers without their consent. And the last thing i remember is musing over how such trivial things can bring out the oneness in people (maybe that's why india has power cuts ... to increase unity ?? Just some food for thought people !!) before i passed out.

I woke up half draped over the wash basin covered in sweat. I staggered to my feet and turned around to see a junior holding a razor in his hands, waiting to use the washbasin, looking at me with a frightened look in his eyes. I tried to re assure him but all that came out of my mouth was something that sounded like "uhhh izzzzokkkkkkkk". Sadly the poor chap misunderstood my ,harmless, intentions and took off running shouting curses at the warden for allowing drunks in the hostel.

And let's not even get into my parents' reactions when they came to know.

Damn this place is fucked up.

There are just two people in blogosphere who create outstanding humour out of their own misery...:/

Glad we became friends;-)

P.S. Do you think you could put up an unedited version of the gaalis targeted at the TN electricity board?

Hmmm..I guess you cannot...n you should not!

So that's how it all started, uh?

@suruchi

the making misery into humour isn't a choice is it ?! either you sit and cry over what happened or you can have a good laugh. I go with the latter !

P.S you ask and answer your own questions... hmm i wonder how you conduct tests for your students !!! ;) ;)
